Hi

If I reinstall windows XP on my C partition, can I read my D NTFS parition
after the rebuild? Will windows allow me to do that? Or will I get access
denied type messages?

Thanks

Why would you not be able to? The only way I could think that you
might run into trouble is if you had encryption enabled on your NTFS
partition, and you did a clean (not in-place) install of XP, and you
didn't have any backups of your private key.

If you have XP pro and you have removed permissions from a file or folder
for everybody but yourself, after rebuild, you will not be able to access it
either. But, as an administrator, you can change the permissions and give
yourself access again. So, in short, you will not have any problems.
