can I put icons on taskbar

When I was using Windows 98 and 2000 I could put icons on
my taskbar at the bottom of my screen. I have Windows XP
now and it doesn't let me put any icons on the taskbar.
Is there a way to change that so I can have less icons on
my desk top by putting them in my taskbar?

Hi

Right click on the Start menu. Select Properties.

Select the Taskbar tab. Put a check on "Show Quick Launch".
