i just got a new laptop because my old one died and it is on vista and it has
a jack to plug an x box 360 controler into and theres all this hype about x
box 360 and vista together so i was wondering, well what would happen if i
stick a 360 game disk in the computer. so what would happen would i be able
to play that game as if it were an x box 360 with a computer screen instead
of a tv or would it destroy my laptop i have to know. i mean i would be pised
if i went and spent the money on a 360 and then found out i could have just
played it on my computer.

To make it simple can i play an x box/ x box 360 game on my laptop.

Simple answer No

Longer answer, No. Xbox306 games are written for the PowerPC, which if I
remember right is a RISC based chips and Intels\AMDs are CISC based chips.

The whole excitment of Xbox360 and Vista, was more along the lines of
setting up Media Sharing and at some point, though still on paper. Set up
games between a PC and a X360 player, via their Xbox live, to inluce talk of
tying your xbox live in with the X360 account.

Nope. You can connect your XBox 360 to your PC to share files, but your PC
cannot play XBox 360 games.

You can connect a controller to your PC, as they both use USB connections,
but they have a PC version of the XB360 controller, as well.

You still can't play regular XBox games on a PC (yet), and it was made with
regular PC parts.
