Can I make back-ups of my Dvds?

I've just ordered a Dell Dimension 5000. I've customized it so that it comes with a 16x max. DVD+/-RW drive as well as a 16x DVD drive. Will I be able to make back ups of the movies I own on DVD on DVD-R (for my own personal use), or will there be copyright prevention on doing such a thing? Is there software available to allow me to make copies of my DVDs?

We, in the UK, still think we have the right to copy anything we own ... sorry, but you will be breaking copyright rules.
