Is it me or is it HP?
Can't I just install the necessary HP d145 printer driver & nothing else?
Can't I get Windows XP to just install the one necessary driver?
Why do I need to install bloated HP software that is unrelated to printing?
Can you advise me?
Here are details to help you help me.
For three or four years I've had this HP OfficeJet D145 printer with
various computers and never used all that "other" software (huge amounts
that HP puts on mysystem). Not only does it take forever to install
scanner, fax, photo, etc. software that I never ever use, but, it's a waste
of time and effort.
Due to using various computers, disks, and operating systems, I can't count
the number of times I've had to re-install the full suite of HP d145
printer software off the manufacturer's CDROM (and the updates) even though
all I need is the printer driver.
Currently I'm installing off of the HP update disk labelled:
Version 3.22, HP OfficeJet D Series Software/Driver for the
d125xi/d135xi/d135/d145/d155xi All-in-One version
When I install a clean Windows XP operating system, I'd expect it to
recognize the HP D145 printer and just install the necessary driver from
HP. But, it never does.
Then, when I install off the HP CDROM, I'd expect it to give me the option
to just install the single driver I need, not tons of bloat. But, it never
does.
Is it me or is it HP?
Am I doing something wrong or did HP actually intend it to be this bloated?
Please advise,
Donna Knolls
