Can I install MSAS without having it load (as service) so I can use it only on demand?

I just want it to run when I want it to. I don't want it to be updating
itself, scheduling itself, etc. (I promise to update it before using it.)

Can`t remember if you can select those optons as part of the installation
process. Its been so long since it was originally installed ;) HOWEVER. You
can select those options you require from within the prog:

Updating: Options>Settings>Autoupdater>uncheck software update
notifications>Save. Same with Def Updates.

Scheduling: Tools>Spyware Scan>Manage Spyware Scan Schedule>Check Disable
Schedule>Update Schedule.

Alternatively, you could right click the MSAS icon on task bar and shut it
down until you need it :-))))

As another "old and picky" user, I recommend that you DON'T disable the
program - just disable the auto updates, etc. the problem with "running it
when I want to" is that you leave yourself open to spyware/hijack
installation via IE. It's way more hassle to un-install stuff AFTER it has
entered your system.
