I have hundreds of images in .bmp form, and need to import them into ppt (2
images per slide). Can I do this automatically and have the file name
inserted next to each picture?

You can using the photo album (free) add-in but it doesn't actualy import the
images it makes them the background of autoshapes. There is also a commercial
add-in available that has more options and actually imports, but I'm not sure
if you can add captions with that. For more info see here:

The website showed me haow I could do it without add ins in ppt 2003!
That has saved hours!

Ahhhh. Not in a oner - you can do them one by one. Better off doing that
before you put them in using photo manipulation software (the Gimp is free if
you don't have any). I'm afraid I'm no expert. I *think* you can get all the
pics in a folder to be the same size but I don't know how :-( Sorry.

Maybe re-post with a new question so the proper experts can answer :-)

Hello,

You have run into one of the problems with this method. You cannot crop
images that are inserted as a background to an AutoShape. That's because
you would really be trying to crop the AutoShape, which is not possible. He
would have to cut the AutoShape and paste back an image.
