I was going to try using two monitors to display diffrent things my
primary for games and things like that, and my secondary for IMing ant
the same time.

I have windows XP pro. In my pc i have a nVidia Gforce FX 5500 card.
In my spare parts box i have an ATI Radion Xtasy and another nVidia
card (Im not sure on the spacifics in that one). My Motherboard also
has an on board card (note that when i plug my current monitor into
the onboard outlet it does not show anything). Is it possable for me
to use multiple monitors at the same time?

I know you can if you have a video card with two Monitor ports I not
sure about two separate cards. try it and see. :)

Your Geforce FX 5500 should be fully capable of supporting dual
monitors. If you look at the back of the card you will see two video
connectors - one regular video connector, which you are probably using
for your existing monitor and a DVI (Digital Video Interface)
connector for a second monitor. Many LCD monitors come with DVI
connectors and cables so they could be hooked directly to this port,
or you could purchase an inexpensive DVI to VGA adapter (about $10),
attach that to the DVI connector on the card and then plug in a second
VGA monitor.

You may have to tweak the dual display settings in Control Panel -
Display - Properties to get the two monitors working as you want them,
but that should only take a few minutes.

Good luck
