I'm trying to format my hard disk (on which WinXP Pro are
installed) to re-install it (clean installation). The
problem is that I can't format my disk at MS-DOS, as I
did with all previous versions of Windows. How can I
format my sole hard disk on XP and how can I make a
startup disk? Please help!...

Well there isnt a startup disk per se, there is a set of them which you can
download from microsoft.com. As for formatting , you can boot the Windows
XP CDROM and delete and recreate the partition and then format it before you
install the OS clean.

Boot with the windows CD in the CD player and go to cmos
and tell it to boot off the CD player. You can format,
do a repair or a new install.
