Can I download XP Service Pack 1 (not SP1a)

I want to use SP1 for my workstation setups and it seems it's gone
from the MS download site. Can someone point me to somewhere I
can still download it ?

As far as I can tell sp1 and sp1a are identical, except that the VM
has been removed. Right ?

That's correct. Just download SP1a, and get Java separately.

You are correct. SP1a has Virtual Machine removed. SP1a should be available.
Why not install it and then either use sun java or download VM from here
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/msjavwu.exe and update it with this version
