I have a bad habit of resting my finger on the left hand mouse key. This can
cause unwanted drag and drop operation....bad enough if it merely copied,
but on the same disk it does a "cut". It can also cause problems with
toolbars moving or disappearing.

Since I prefer to use cut/copy and paste for moving things anyway, is it
possible to disable the feature?

It can be disabled for the taskbar and start menu. In Taskbar/Start Menu
properties go to the Start Menu page. Click Settings. Uncheck the box to
enable drag and drop.

Suggestions:
--You could try adjusting the click rate/sensitivity of your mouse in
Control Panel Mouse.

--If your mouse software allows it, reassign that left button to a less
troublesome function.

-- Get in the habit of dragging/dropping with right mouse button.
Although this won't help with your heavy finger, it will pop up a menu
when you drop an item (Copy here, move here, create shortcut here,
cancel).

Thanks Sharon...I was sure it was in ther esomewhere, but I had no idea
where,

Jim
