Can I delete IE 7 and Service Pk 3?

R

Regards, Stella

Since I switched to IE 7 and installed SP3 my computer has gone bonkers!
I have been having probs with everything and is very aggrivating to say the
least.
I have WinXP home edition. Is it possible to go back to IE6 and is there a
way to delete SP3?

If you installed IE7 and then WinXP SP3, you'd have to uninstall (not
delete) WinXP SP3 before you'd be able to uninstall IE7 (which would
automatically return the machine to IE6). But I wouldn't do that just yet.
Let's start with some simple diagnostics:

Did these problems start immediately after you'd installed IE7 or
immediately after you'd installed WinXP SP3?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running
in the background when you installed IE7 and/or WinXP SP3?

My problems started after I installed SP3 if I remember right.
My IE takes forever to load a page, if it even loads which sometimes
it doesn't. Sometimes if I try to minimize a page then it just dissappears.
Sometimes when I scroll a page it takes several tries to do that.
My OE...when I click on a message to read it then it opens a new window
instead.
When I send an email using the BBC it duplicates the addresses.
This is just a list of the "few" problems.

I use AVG and no I had shut it down when I installed IE7 and SP3.
And yes, AVG is/was updated.
The only Firewall is the one XP has.
I hope this is enough info to help. Thank you for your help.

Then uninstalling WinXP SP3 should correct the problems (doubtful):

Thank you very much Pa Bear! I finally was able to get rid of IE7 and I
guess that is what was causing all my weird problems, as everything is now
back to normal and running great once again! lol Although I still couldn't
locate SP3 anywhere on my computer and I did use the add/remove and also
"run" but it couldn't find it. So I guess for now I should leave well enough
alone. Thank you again for your help.

You're welcome & thanks for your feedback.

If you'd installed IE7 before you install WinXP SP3, you wouldn't have been
able to uninstall IE7 without first uninstalling WinXP SP3. This suggests
that WinXP SP3 was not installed or it was installed before IE7 was
installed.

Start | Run | (type) winver | OK will reveal your full Windows version.

Thanks again!
