I have a spare drive that and I want to use it as a slave to hold documents
and images. At the moment it's got lots of programmes on it including a
windows operating system. Can I open it in Explorer and just delete all the
files that are on there and then save files to it from my C: drive or do I
have to leave any particular files on there so that Explorer can find it?. I
didn't particularly want to reformat it in case I made a mistake and
inadvertently formatted my C: drive.
Thanks

Sure, you can do this. Copy the files you want and then delete the others.
The easiest way really would be to format the drive. Just be careful.
Besides, Windows won't let you format the system drive. That would be like
trying to saw off a tree limb while sitting on it. An easy way to be sure
you don't make a mistake is to go to Control Panel>Administrative
Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management. From there you'll see all the
drives in the computer and can safely pick the right one to format.

No, just a regular drive.

Yah, just trying to make a living. ;-) I don't have anything to add to your
good advice, either.

Cheers,
