I'm having problems booting up my win2000 pro NTFS system.
I do not have a ERD (Emergency Repair Disk). Can I create a duplicate
ERD if I do a parallel install, which can be used during the recovery
console from the original install.

Forgive me if this appears long winded.

I'm able to run the install W2K install program from the origional 4
floppies which then access the W2K CD.

The Welcome Setup screen appears as follows:-

Setup W2K press Enter
Repair W2k press R
Quit Press F3

Choosing R for repair displays the following:-

Recovery Console press C
Emergency Repair press R

Choosing R

Manual Repair M
Fast Repair F

I have run Fast Repair a few time to no avail. When choosing Manual
repair I am prompted for the ERD disk, which I do not have.
I've Tried running the CHKDSK /p /s and BOOTFIX option in Repair
Console also to no avail.

The system hangs at the Windows Startup Welcome screen.
In safe mode is hangs at the AGP440.SYS device loading line.
I have thought about deleting or renaming the file from the console
screen prompt, but thought I'd try and create a ERD first.

Any advice from all you techies / MCSEs would be gratefully welcomed.

Regards
Iv

Possibly from the parallel installation you could copy from the original
C:\WINNT\repair to a diskette the files autoexec.nt, config.nt and
setup.log and give it a try.
