I'm having problems starting my PC when it's hooked up to an old
monitor. I can only get a picture on the screen when running in VGA
mode.
Would it be possible to alter an ini file to set a lower screen
resolution and/or update rate? If so, in which ini file and where in
that ini file?

XP Pro, SP1

Christopher

Assuming you can hook up to a monitor that will allow you to change
settings, right click on the desktop, select properties, go to the settings
tab, click on advanced, go to the adapter tab, click list all modes, and
then click on a resolution and refresh rate that your monitor will support.

If you are changing monitors, why not use the set the controls on the front
of each monitor to allow for the difference in image size..

Sorry that I expressed myself a bit clumsy; I am (was) not able to
hook up a "compatible" monitor, that is (was) the problem!

However I've now completely reinstalled XP from scratch so the problem
is no longer ... well, a problem.

Thanks,
Christopher
