Can I change the subject?

I file many of my emails for future reference in reference folders I have
created in outlook, and often the subject in the original message is not
helpful to my finding the filed email when I need it. I'd like to edit or
change the subject line on emails that I file in reference folders. Is
there a way to do this, or another solution to this situation? (outlook XP
sp2)

Have you already tried just clicking in the subject line
and typing?

WOW! Since the field did not appear to be editable, I never tried that. If
you open the email and highlight the subject line in the header, you can in
fact edit it.

Thanks.

I had the same question that you had, and I tried your solution and it works. But my coworker can change the subject just by clicking it in the inbox, she doesn't have to open the email first. I can't figure out how to do that. Any ideas?
