Well, if you really want the old appearance back:
rightclik on your desktop and choose the last item of the window. Since I
have german Vista here, I don't know the wording for you, but it is
something like "change", "adjust" or so.
You click that and come into a list of several possibilities. Again, I don't
know the english wording, but it should be the first item you choose and
click.
Then you find something with "properties ... classic..". Click that and you
will see a menu with several items. Now choose "windows classic" and your
brandnew car will look like your old one...
