Can getting Windows Updates be automated?

Hello,

I am finding that we are doing Windows Updates very frequently for all of
our servers. I would like to know if there is a way to automate pulling
Windows updates from Microsoft.com on a regular scheduled basis? Also, I
would like to know if the updates can be downloaded and stored on my network
so that I don't have to waste bandwidth to the internet. I'd like 1 server
to get the updates and push them out to other desktops and servers, or have
the desktops and servers pull the updates from the storage location.

IN addition, I have found that (at least on WIN2K desktops) that admin
rights are necessary to apply the updates. Is there a way around this so
that an admin does not have to be logged on? I am aware that the update
process can be scheduled from Control Panel, but this does not provide any
option (that I can see) to allow non-admins to apply the updates.

Many thanks,
Rich

If the machine is updated far enough to have Automatic Updates
(all XP and Win2003, most Win2000 by now) then that is the
trivial answer.

Will you please post back what you find, I believe this to be a
(vastly) underused resource and certainly not discussed much.
Maybe there is a better newsgroup, I will need to look (too.)
