On a Windows XP PC (wired) connected to internet through a router, the
settings in ipconfig has all the info correct. I can logon to router admin
tool. I can FTP outside servers, but I can't broswe the web; can't ping,
tracert either. Sometimes this can be fixed by rebooting the PC.
On another laptop connected wireless thru the same router. It does the
same thing (FTP fine, not fine on the rest). Some times in order to fix
the problem, I need to logon to router admin and reboot the router from
that laptop. Then it would connect. I eventually took the security out
then there is no problem.
I'd like to know what are the elements needed to be able to browse the
web. That would help me identify the problems quickly next time.
Thanks for the help,
