Can DNS and WINS co-exist?

Hi.

I guess the answer is "no" but I'd like an explanation on this and the
possible problems it can cause.

Yes they can exists and work together, i am only learning at the moment and
this is form the material that i am reading. so i can't give you a
definitive answer.

Hi,

The answer is absolutely YES!. There should not be any problems running
WIns and DNS on the same network or even on the same server.

Thanks to all.

Now we have only Win2K workstations. I suppose having only DNS (for Active
Directory, which is planned for the migration) and NetBIOS over TCP/IP is
enough even for computer browsing?

You guessed wrong. They do different jobs, DNS is TCP name
resolution, WINS is NetBIOS name resolution.
