Initial problem was bad enough to push me into a
repair/restore. After all that, and update to SerPak1a I
now have the following: A. I.E.6 missing all tabs! as in
tools/options....its blank! B. THe run line is dead.
C. File search is dead. D. Printing was totally fouled up
and returned the infamous error rectangle (notify
Microsoft etc.)and opened two copies of My documents.
Endless fiddling and somehow this went away.
Norton virus check--negative. Spybot, adware,
Trojan hunter, Web Washer etc. and anything else I could
find collectively show no problems or malware. I have no
background in Voodoo....can you help!!!! Please. Machine
is an IBM Thinkpad 600X, max memory and drive in heavy
daily use with Office XP and Web searching. Thanks in
advance. Rich Scarborough

Did you do a "system restore" or a "repair install" of your
computer?

Laptops are very sensitive to software and drivers. Was
you're XP an upgrade on the ThinkPad? It could be you're
missing drivers or have a BIOS incompatibility.

What was the "initial problem" that pushed you to repair? Perhaps your
problem was hardware related. that could account for the severity of
problems you are now encountering. If you haven't already done so I suggest
you backup whatever you can off this system as soon as possible before
continuing with any further troubleshooting
