Hi all,

I have windows XP professional laptop with two network connections. One is
wireless connection and another cable connection to our network. Wireless
connection can access the internet through Linksys router. with cable
connection to our private network, you can not go to internet. If I need two
connections on, how can I connect to internet and connect to our private
network also? Is this possible with wireless and cable connection on so that
we can access the internet and connect to the private network?

You already have a Network, all you need is to configure the sharing
settings of each computer.
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is
allowed to be shared.

If a computer has 2 connections (ie, Ethernet and WiFi), you can have both
active, but only one will be used at any time.

Are both connections setup as a DHCP client? That should be all that you need.

Why not look at logs from "ipconfig /all", from the problem computer, and from
another, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

From your saying, it means that it is not possible with two connections on.

The automatic metrics feature is used to allow you to have 2 (or more) available
connections, and use the best one at any time, selected by availability. If you
really want to have 2 connections, and dedicate the use of each, then yes you
CAN setup the static route table to make this happen.

Read about the table carefully before starting.

I still do not think whether the static route will work on this case. These
two networks are totally seperate networks and there is no any routing
between them directly or indirectly. How would static route work on this
case?

Do you understand what the static route table does? Quite simply, it matches
destination IP address to a logical or physical interface. It's used by every
device that uses Internet Protocol for communication.

If you have 2 interfaces (network adapters) connected to the same physical
network (as in one Ethernet and one WiFi adapter connecting to the same access
point / switch), IP uses the cost figure to decide which available interface to
use, at any time. If you have 2 interfaces connected to different networks, IP
uses the routing entries to determine how to access any network.
