Hello,

I've been trying to find a free/shareware packet sniffer that will work on
my computer, but thus far nothing that I've tried has worked. My W98
computer
connects to the Internet via a 56K dialup modem. I've tried EffeTech's
TCP/IP EtherDetect and the Trial version of Sniff'em. Neither of them would
work on my PC.

I'd really like to capture & analyze all packets that enter/leave my
computer.

Can anyone here let me know of a good product that I can use from my home
computer that will help me to do such a thing?

Thanks in advance, D

I also tried the latest version of Ethereal today. It doesn't seem to work
with my PPP either. The software installed properly, but it doesn't show
any packets while I was sending pings & loading webpages. After reading the
online literature, it appears that it won't work with my firewall installed
(ZoneAlarm).

Does anyone have any ideas?

The names of these products suggest that they trace ethernet packets. You
don't have ethernet.
