Hi
Our creative has just decided not to play ball with the media source organiser we have installed on pc. We keep getting error message that it is not connected properly when it is and the media source won't recognise the PC. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be??
Thanks

Can you give us the exact error message on the PC ... and a bit more information on what the PC is.

:)

The operation failed. Ensure player is properly connected before trying again.
This message is from creative mediaSource.
Hope that helps

... and the PC is a what?

OK ...

There is a problem between the 'Zen' and the 'PC' ... either the cable is naff or the Zen has gone to the happy MP3 graveyard, or the PC's USB has failed.

I take it it uses USB to connect to the PC? ... have you tried a friends PC, no need to use your software, just plug it in and something should happen and XP offer up some message.

Does the Zen show in device manager? Does XP make that silly 'bing-bong' sound when you plug the Zen in?

:)

Tried other cables and USB ports still same problem. Yes it does make silly bing bong sound but still displays error message.Tried different PC which gave message of found new hardware and the Wizard pops up.
Incidently our Panda, security programme is saying pc is disinfecting a virus called Trj/Lager.AI is there a possibility that there is a link?? First appeared yesterday (same day Zen wouldn't work) and is there again today when I turned PC on.
I eagerly await your help
Thanks in anticipation

It could or it could not be the problem, but can you when you do a virus scan not disinfect it or quarantine the file to make it safe, then re-start the pc and see if all works ok?

Ok so the zen has decided it wants to spend more time here on earth than go to mp3 heaven and is working as good as new - how?? you might ask ?? who knows I'm sure it had something to do with the infection which is now disinfected and gone.
Lets hope all is well at least for a good while anyhow and thanks for your help I will know where to come if it decides to go awol again
thanks again
