This computer is q new. Will my old computer I could save excel documents
onto a cd but trying to do it on new computer it's telling me I don't have
access and to contact my administator? Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?

Are you trying to save directly to a CD, as if it were a big floppy? You
can't do that unless you have special software, called packet writing
software, installed. Most of the common CD-burning packages like Nero,
Roxio, etc. come with such software.

Otherwise you have to save to your hard drive and then burnit from there.
 
q means quite, sorry.

I think I've got a dodgy batch of dvd-r. Tried several and not worked. Found
a spare cd-r and it worked, so think prob just prob with disc. Thanks for you
reply tho

OK, thanks. Non-standard abbreviations are apt to confuse people.

If it worked, you must have packet-writing software installed.

If the DVD didn't work, are you sure your drive is a DVD burner? Are you
sure the DVD is the right type (-R vs. +R) for your drive?
