I want to go setup a network, but I need to know what
this is, as shown in the link given below.

Can I use it instead of getting a network card, or will I
still need a network card for the machine and hook up the
machines using a CAT5 cable?

I typed "Asound internal pci router" into a Google search box and
found several web sites with information on it.

It appears to be a combination router and network switch that connects
to one computer and lets it share a broadband connection with other
computers using Sygate software.

I assume that it acts as a network card for the computer that it's
installed in, but I don't know for sure.

I'd go with a regular network card and an external router.

I would get a cat5 crossover cable or a small hub and a
couple of cat5 network cables. Forget about using this to
network over the internet, not good.
