Can anybody explain in a simple way what the steps voor security templates are?

Hi all,

Running XP PRO SP 1 standalone. I'm still playing around a bit with this
feature. I'm not quite sure how to use it. I can add the snap in to MMC, but
then I'm not quite sure "what does what". I can run a security analysis
against a template, so the differences are shown. That's nice. But I'd
rather have a self made template which records the current state. Then, I
can save this template, reinstall Windows, and apply it to my XP once
reinstalled (which I'm planning to do shortly).

Beside this, I would like to save all the other settings in MMC (for
example, gpedit.msc) in the same way, but I don't know if that's possible.
Can anybody help me out?

Thanks a lot,

Regards,

Jos
