In my start up I have these, hphmon05, RECGuard, VTTimer,
ALCXmntr, ps2, ccApp, iedriver, msbb, rundll32, and
msmsgs. I am using Windows XP and these load on start
up, so are any important or can I turn them off so they
don't load up when I boot up.

Files that load at startup are generally required

In most instances, you will find an entry on the System Tray that would correspond to one of the files listed. Before stopping any of these items from running, without specific knowledge of the application to which it is associated, look at the system tray and ascertain those application running

Should you not wish for it to load at startup, open the application and investigate if there is a configuration tab, or option where you can prevent it loading

If not and unless you have good knowlegde of computing, let them run.

hphmon05 appears to be a Hewlett Packard digital imaging
monitor program;
RECGuard Associated with the Compaq and HP Recovery
program, Compaq recommends it be allowed to run;
VTTimer appears to be associated with RecGuard, could
probably be disabled;
ACLXmntr - RealTek AC97 audio-event software, probably
could be disabled;
PS2 is probably a bus driver, I'd leave it alone for now
but do further investigation;
ccApp is part of Norton anti-virus, leave it;
iedriver is installed by peer-to-peer file sharing
programs and is considered spyware;
msbb is either spyware or a Trojan or virus-related object;
rundll32 is a native Windows process, can be used by
spyware, etc.
msmsgs is MSN Instant Messenger (traybar) program
installed by default in WinXP

Good Luck !
