Can a Parent Domain adopt Orphaned Child Domains?

Hi,

We recently had a catastrophic hardware failure of the one
and only DC in our parent domain. We had to rebuild
hardware and reload WIN2k Advanced Server. We had no
useable backups. Doom On Us.

We rebuilt the AD in the New parent domain. The next
question is this: Can we add the seven Old child domains
to our Active Directory as children of the New parent
domain? Or, is it Doom On Us seven more times?

Ouch! When you say the parent domain, do you mean this was the forest root
domain? If so and you have no backups I'm afraid to say you are in big
trouble, you cannot recreate a forest root domain.

You say you had no useable backups, did you have any backups at all? Even if
they are older than the tombstone lifetime you may still be able to make
some use of them.
