Is it possible from Internet Explorer to display all the files in at a
website (rather than display the web pages)? For example, instead of
displaying the web page for www.anything.com I want to display a list of all
files at that location, such as index.htm, mypicture.jpg, anything.htm, etc,
etc.

Can this be done?

Hi,

This is possible, but must be enabled from a server stand-point. Failing
that, it's not possible to have retrieve a directory listing through Internet
Explorer. That is, it is only available on servers which have configured there
pages as such.

IE cannot do what you want - you'll need a third-party app:

Here is a utility that can do what you want to do, it's called SiteSnagger:

using Google you may find it elsewhere)

Or if you want a more powerful tool to download entire web sites:

Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting!

I understand that you want to know whether Internet Explorer can display
all the files at a website. If I have misunderstood your concerns, please
feel free to let me know.

Thanks for Altrüs and Jon's helpful information. I also agree with their
suggestion. You may use third party tools to download a website and store
the contents for off line viewing. Please let me provide you with more
tools for your reference:

You may download Website eXtractor (30-days free trial).

Hi,

Thank you for the kind words. I am curious as to the program you posted though -
does it only crawl a website (storing posted content as it goes), or does it
actually have access to the directory listing? That is, does it only list posted
content, or would a completely unlinked file also show up?

Best regards,

Altrus

Hi Tom,

Thanks for reply!

The tools I mentioned need to download whole websites to your computer and
view them offline.
