Cameras that record in WMV or and AVI file

Is there a Camera/Camcorder that will record in WMV or and AVI file like my computer camera?
I would like to purchase a camcorder that would allow me to record directly in a AVI file and I do not know of any
If anyone has a suggestion please drop me a note

Hi There,

I am sure there are cameras that do not fit the rule, but if you can
capture from your camera with MovieMaker then it is you that decides the
exact capture format (within those made available to you by the program)

I would imagine that most if not all DV cameras have the ability to dump
the recording to a DV-AVI format via Movie Maker or WinDV. Mine does, but
that does not of course mean that all do.

Doug,

I recommend a miniDV camcorder that has an IEEE-1394 port (also known as
FireWire or iLink). The camcorder records the video in DV format on the
miniDV tape, and that can be transfered to your PC in DV-AVI format with
no loss of quality.
