Check the website for your camera to see if it is compatible with XP. Also
check to see if there any downloads (drivers or software) that may be
required for it to work properly in this version of Windows.

I have a few digital cameras and have opted to use a card reader to copy
images files to the hard drive instead of attaching the camera. A simple
card reader (USB) can be purchases for under $20.
