camera connect via usb

I have been using a Pentax digi camera for over 2 years
without trouble, now my pc , running Windows XP Home,
gives a message USB device not recognised, 1 of the usb
devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and
Windows does not recognise it
Same message appears if I try to use a card reader to
download photos. I appear to have a problem with usb
connectivity.
Any ideas how to solve this one, I have restored back to
a restore point before the trouble started, but still no
luck. My e mail address is (e-mail address removed)

Sounds to me like the USB drivers for the actual port may have become
corrupted. Go into the Device Manager, delete the USB Controller, reboot
the PC and let XP reinstall them.
