Has anoyone has problems with the camera and scanner
wizard not working after installing Real Player 10?
Install the software and XP's camera wizard will fail,
remove Real Audio's Real Player and all is back to normal.

Any ideas to fix this problem so I can use realplayer?

==================
Yes...it has been discussed extensively.

A possible work around is to reinstall
an earlier version of RealPlayer.

Thanks John, just as I thought, don't suppose it one of
Microsoft's many fixes in XPSP2? I searched through it
and can't find it!

Sorry, but I don't have that answer...I have
decided to wait a while on installing SP2.

Out of interest, why?

Why? Personally, I don't see the urgency to
install it and thought maybe some of the issues
would be addressed in future updates.

Have a look at the following examples:

(873161) After you install Windows XP Service
Pack 2, your computer restarts continuously

(884130) Programs that may behave
differently in Windows XP Service Pack 2

(842242) Some programs seem to stop working
after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2

(883775) Device drivers known to cause
instability in Windows XP Service Pack 2

Prevention" error message in Windows XP

This is a known issue (search for RealPlayer under
Subject). I had the same problem and followed the advice
given by somebody in this group: "I found that killing the
realsched.exe process in task manager, then inserting the
camera or removable media would once again produce the
handy autoplay feature. It looks like realsched.exe is
being launched on startup in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio
n\Run
TkBellExe
"C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

I guess one could remove that registry value, but I
suspect next time you run Real Player 10 that it would be
re-added to the registry. I found that disabling the
message enter "check for new messages" option removed that
registry key."

This has resolved my problem, now I have RealPlayer 10 and
the Plug & Play feature for digital cameras etc. is
working fine!
Good luck!
