Camcorder not recognized by Windows XP

I have a new Canon ZR90 camcorder connected by firewire to an IBM NetVista but Windows XP pro won't communicate with it. It recognizes the camera but under the properties says "Device cannot start." I've call Canon and the souce I got the firewire card from but with no answers. Help!
 
Same problem with JVC camcorder
Make sure you installed the original driver for the firewire card.
