Hello

I am trying to call a web service from a pocket pc connected through serial
port to the PC-which has the web service-. The call succeeded when my pc was
connected to the network, but when I disconnect the pc from the network the
following error appears

'unable to read data from the transport connection'

So, why do I need a network connection if the service is installed locally
on my pc, is it related to active synch? is there any work around?

Regards
Mohammad

Have you installed the Microsoft Loopback Adapter? Even if you're calling
the Web service over a serial connection via ActiveSync, you need an active
TCP layer otherwise the HTTP requests cannot be made.

Hi Neil

I can call the web service without the Loopback Adaptor. It only fails when
I disconnect the network connection from my PC. The web service is installed
locally but even so, the pocket pc cannot see it if there is not network
connection. So, is installing Loopback Adaptor is a solution?

Yep, go ahead and install the Loopback Adapter, then try it again. Let us
know how it goes.
