I need to build a database to log incoming and outgoing calls for various
departments. They aren’t interested what the calls are about, how long they
are or in follow-up just in the numbers.

They would like their people to click on a button each time their operators
receive a call or their agents make a call and be able to summarize the
volume by hour, day, week, month & year.

Seems basic enough but I just can’t seem to get my head around this…

Has anybody out there made one of these or anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked on-line at Google.com or at the Microsoft website for
templates?

Yup, they are all Tech Support/Call Centre style databases that log call
length, resolution & follow ups.

I just need a click, count & summarize by time by dept type solution.

It sounds like you are looking for a specialized variation of one of the
available templates.

Could you start with one of the templates and disable/strip out what you
don't need?
