That card is way out of date and won't work with allot of games, I recommend an upgrade

Hi,
I recently installed Activision's "Call of Duty" on my system. Installation
went fine but I keep getting an error message saying my graphics card isn't
up to scratch when I start the game. The flash screen appears & all looks
hopeful but them splat - no go. I get a message saying "my card may not have
the features required to run the game else I shud update my drivers". I've
done the driver update thing but still no joy.

The game's read me file says the minimum requirements to run the game on the
graphics card side are as follows:-
- 3D Hardware Accelerator Card required - 100% DirectX® 9.0b compatible 32MB
hardware T&L-capable video card and latest drivers.

Does anyone know if my NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/64 Pro card meets the
requirements above 'cos I don't have a clue? Maybe the DirectX 9.0b
compatible bit is the culprit? I thought the latest driver update would
solve this issue.

On a side issue that deals with the same thing. After I went to the NVIDIA
website & got the lastest driver (ver 5.3.0.3 dated 11/17/03), I ran a
Windows Update scan on my PC. It comes up with a Driver Update called
"NVIDIA display software update released on July 28 2003." This is basically
what I had on the system previously so that isn't any help. Just curious why
Windows Update would pull up an older update than the newer one.

Anyway, it's not a life-shattering problem but if anyone has any suggestions
then that would be great. Else it looks like I'm off to get a new VDO card
like the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 series.

Thanks in advance.
Mark

David's right.

I had to replace my own TNT for a Ti4200 to be able to
play games that require hardware Transform & Lighting too.

Mark,

Get a new video card, drivers will not upgrade the hardware, the TNT2
series is rather obsolete and does not support T&L...
