YES i tried playing it, i get Direct3DDevice9::Present failed: n/a, it appears it don't like directX 10 , i tried lowering it to directX 9 like windows XP but crashes, I HATE VISTA ALREADY, guess i will make a dual boot of 2 OS's

I dl directx9c and it looked like it downloaded, but my system still reads
directx 10.last night 2-13-7 i uninstalled cod then reinstalled it with all
of the patches,PB , 1.51 CodUo and it goes to the menu screen and freezes.

Your system is always going to read DX10. Vista also has DX9.0L (or some
flavor) also installed. I believe Dustin is referring to the DX9.0c runtime
update that fixes some issues and games like FEAR and Battlefield 2142
require.

You can get the February release of the DX9.0c runtime update on Microsoft's
site

What video card are you using, Nvidia supposedly just released some newones,
I hope your not using the one that came with windows. ATI's 7.1 drivers has
worked well for me in games like Doom3 (an OpenGL game)

I play CoD, but for some reason i can see through some of the boxes in the
mp_harbor map and also otehr maps i see some of the terrain through some
walls. When i walk up to that terrain or those boxes my gun and hands
disappear. Why is this? I heard that Vista doesnt suppot OpenGL. Is this the
reason this is happening? Is this the reason why the CoD map editor wont open?

XP didn't support OpenGL either. It's the video card folks who supply the
drivers that make it happen. What video card are you running ? if you didn't
have OpenGL support the entire game would look funky. I tried playign doom3
back in the RC1 and 2 days, before ATI added OpenGL support and there was no
doubt about it. Sounds like you're having graphic\texture glitches which is
a different problem, but more than likely related to video drivers issues,
maybe a conflict if you have AA and AF turned up to high. Did oyu check in
the CoD forums to see if anyone had this problem at all ?

Alrigt im just gonna buy a graphics card since i only have the graphics
accelrator that came with th PC. Thanks for the info.

I'm not Pro or Con any card, just be aware that the nVidia cards are
stuggleing at teh moment, so if you go with one of those, you might get a
different set of problems. I have no doubt that nVidia will get them ironed
out over the next 2-3 months, just be aware things are less than ideal in
Vista right now.

I myself have an ATI card and they've actually had some solid drivers on day
1. Their 64bit drivers need some work, as that's the where I get my BSODs.
So everyone has some work to do.

Again, no matter which way you go, just realize it's a work in progress, not
just for graphics, but for Sound, motherboard etc..etc.

I can get it to work in Vista as Multiplayer (Single player worked fine). It
seems to be a Punkbuster problem for me. Before running the CoDMP.exe
(Multiplayer), rename the "pb" folder under the install folder to "pbx" or
something and fire it up.

Once it comes up, then list your server and before you click "Join server"
go back to Windows and rename the "pbx" folder to "pb". It will then ask you
to enable Punnkbuster etc.., click "yes", and you should be good.

Also, I had to download and install the pbsetup.exe from the PunkBuster
website, just to get the punkbuster updates. Be sure to do this before the
folder renaming stuff.

under properties change the compatability to wondows xp and it should work
fine, has stopped the freezing for me
