After sorting a new graphics card so the demo would work, Santa gave me the
full game but......(after spending all xmas day trying to get it to run stil
no joy)

Installs ok, then goes to desktop loads disk with "COD2" screen giving
options of single/multi player, links etc when you click on single player it
goes to desktop, egg timer comes up for 2 seconds then it just seems the
computer just hangs. I have to turn off ar power to re boot. If I just double
click on the single player desktop icon it says insert CD (which it is) or it
just stays on the desktop and crashes sometimes. I have tryed both disk
drives and get the same. I have also re-installed it a few times, but get the
same.

The multi player works fine. This seems to not run off the disk

System seem to meet requirements for game and everything is upto date and
running well.

Anyone got any advice?

Intel 2.66
512 ram
geforce 6200 ( new but working with everything eles ok even other new games )
16x DVD ROM Drive
80GBHD ( with lots of free space)
DirectX 9c

thanks if you can help in advance

Quiksilver (sry about posting but I have tryed everything I can think of)

Hi Quiksilver,

Maybe there's a conflict with the previous demo. After you uninstall
both the demo and the full game (again), delete the installation directory,
the game directory found within your My Documents/My Games folder,
and then clean any lingering registry entries which may be left over using
a RegCleaner: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download460.html

Thanks for the advice Jimmy but I have done all that you have said and still
get the same problem. It seems as if it will not play the DVD-rom after it is
installed. If I leave it after double clicking on the desktop icon, the DVD
drive goes dead, when it un freezes and I double click on my computer the DVD
drive does not show up ( seems strange ) then i have to re-boot to get power
to DVD drive working again. I have the latest updated drivers for my DVD
drive. (DVD disk drive = IDE DVD\CD ROM drive 16x ) I can run other DVD games
and DVD films ok.

Is it something to do with the copy protection maybe ( Is a offical copy
from a good retailer ) ?

If it was the driver why does it install but will not run single player ?

any other help would be brillent if you have any ideas. if not might have to
get money back :(

Thanks for you help

Hi Quiksilver,

There are a few ideas that come to mind...

1. The new video card might be drawing too much juice.
Can your power supply provide enough wattage?

2. It's possible you have a bad disc.
Can you test the disc in another computer?

3. To see if it's a software conflict: Temporarily disable Startup
programs one at a time, starting with Firewall, Antivirus, and ad
blockers using this utility: http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
or this method: http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php

You can lookup what a program does before you disable it here:
http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

4. Do you have only one CD device in My Computer?
If you have any Virtual CD's installed, try removing them.
