Hello all,

I have a PC and i connect to internet connection through ADSL modem,
which is connected to my PC through LAN. This is another ADSL
Broadband service.

My question is, Can i use my PC + ADSL modem to receive and call on
normal phone lines ? In addition if it is possible to receive and send
fax too...

Please let me know if i am not clear in any aspect.

Thanks,
Kawal

Yes, but you'll have to subscribe to particular services to make it
happen. For voice calls, you'll need a VoIP provider. Skype and Vonage
are a couple of examples, but I'm not vouching for either. The latter,
apparently, permits fax calls as well, if you can get it to work.

Fax service can be had from a number of providers, maybe someone can
recommend one that they've used. Some of them will provide you with an
actual phone number that you advertise as your fax number. Others have
a phone number + extension. Basically your interaction with faxes will
be much like you handle email now.
