My calendar has the #3 in parentheses beside my calendar. What is that for?
Does that mean I have 3 calendars? If so, how do I delete the others? I
have Outlook 2003
 
The (3) is 3 unread items just like you see in your Inbox.

In the Calendar, unread items are most likely Meeting Requests you need to
open. Do that. Alternatively, right click the Calendar and click Mark all
As Read.
