I went to tools then options and then added the holidays
for the US, but they dont appear in my calendar, why?
 
I'm assuming you're using Outlook 2000 (or perhaps, an even earlier
version). The holidays file that came with Outlook 2000 only included
holidays through the year 2002. You'll need to download and install an
updated holidays file. Links to several such files, and instructions for
using them, can be found here:
