Hello, I'm using Outlook2000 and would like it to open in the "Month"
view with a column on the right with the date navagator at the top and
the task=pad below that. This would be in addition to the Outlook bar
on the left. Is this possible to set up. Everytime I set it that way
and close Outlook, it re-opens with the "month" calendar in full page
and the task-pad out of view. Thanks in advance for any help.

After you get the view set the way you like it, try this:

Select the VIEW menu
Select CUURRENT VIEW...
Select DEFINE VIEWS...

<Current View Settings> should be highlighted
Click the COPY... button
Type the name of your view like "Derf's View"
Click OK
Click OK again
Click APPLY VIEW

This should save your view with the new name. If for
some reason the calendar opens with the old view, just:

Select VIEW
Select CURRENT VIEW
Select DERF'S VIEW

to reapply your view again.

Thanks for the reply. I have been playing with this for some time and
I'm not sure if I have a buggy install or what but I have tried
creating views just as you have described but it always reverts back
to the monthly calendar stretched all the way over to the right and
the calendar navigator and taskpad out of view. Even if I selelct
[View] and then click on the "View" I created, it just goes to the
monthly Calendar across the screen. Maybe I am just a little to anal
about it because I can always just slide the right border of the
calendar over to the left a bit and bring the taskpad into view. I
just thought maybe I missed a setting somewhere.

I really appreciate your help though, thanks

Have you tried using the "Detect and Repair" option on the
Outlook HELP menu? This will clean up your registry.

There may also be an issue with your permission settings
to some of your system files. Are you an administrator on
your machine? What Operation System are you using? Do
you have permission to write to ALL folders?

I have not tried the detect and repair for some time. I did it awhile
back and since this is really the only "issue" I have with Outlook, I
haven't bothered to did out my original "Office2000" CDs which I'm
sure it will ask for. That is something to consider though.

I am using WindowsME which I keep clean and lean but I know, before
you say it, WinME is like a house-of-cards. It doesn't take but one
little thing to bring it crashing down but I have kept this install
going for a good 2 years plus without incident. I am very
conservative about what I install and the only reason that I haven't
made the jump to XP is that this system does everything I want and I'm
still not totally thrilled about the "activation" scheme and other
digital rights management issues that XP forces upon you.

I built this computer several years ago and I guess I over-built it
because I'm finding it difficult to justify replacement or upgrade
even though it is only an 866 PIII/256. It still works so damn good
that my wife got the new 2.0gig/512 w/XP so I'm going to stay where I
am. It's just these little "idiosyncrasies" that bug me. See, I am
too anal, LOL
