Calendar reminders not popping up - Outlook 2003

My reminders don't always pop up. They appear on my task bar but don't
always pop up to actually remind me.

I've come to rely on them and that's causing problems!
 
What do the ones that don't pop up have in common?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
