Calendar - Public Folders

I am trying to understand here whether a users calendar would be folder
under the public folder?

Cause, I tried assigning permissions to users who would like to access the
Calendar for that user by going into ESM (As, I could not pull out the
calendar using MS Outlook). I gave permissions on the folder assuming that,
this would be the calendar, but it looks that users are unable to access the
calendar. I am not sure what error message they are getting, but, I tried
assigning permissions myself to that folder and tried to open it in Outlook
to see whether I can open it, and I get the following error message

"Unable to display the folder. The calendar folder could not be found."

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;898853

The article above shows the error message and resolution, and I tried
restarting my outlook after I assigned the permissions, but still get the
same error message for myself, and I am assuming that this might be the
problem

I do not see any kind of Calendar icon when I try accessing it from Outlook,
instead I just see the folder for that user. Any thoughts? Your help would
be appreciated.

No, a user's mailbox Calendar folder would not be under the Public Folders hierarchy. It would be in their mailbox. ESM is the wrong tool to assign mailbox folder permissions. the free PFDavAdmin tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=635BE792-D8AD-49E3-ADA4-E2422C0AB424. It can manage mailbox folder permissions, as well as public folder permissions.

Thanks Sue, this tool was really helpful. I was able to assign the
permissions to the calendar.

You are the best!
