Hi -
I have Outlook 2000 SP3, version 9.0.0.6627.

I'm having a problem importing info from Excel to Outlook's Calendar. I
followed the instructions in "OL2000: Importing from Microsoft Excel Requires
Named Range" (Article ID 19674303). BTW, this article says the Named Range
can't have spaces or the same name as a column. Apparently it has other
limitations. When I tried a name with about 15 characters including an
underscore and a couple of dashes, it rejected it. Went with a 6 or 7
character name and that took.

During the import operation, Outlook displayed a box correctly identifying
the range I'd named, and said it could take a few minutes and couldn't be
cancelled. However, the "Next" option is grayed out. This occurred in 3
attempts. There's no error message, and I've given it plenty of time - I'm
only pasting a few simple test entries. The "Back" and "Cancel" options are
active, and I was able to use them.

I'm only selecting the first five fields, but I don't think that's the
problem. Early on, I exported an entry from Outlook to Excel to see the
format and make sure my entries matched. At one point, I saved Excel as a
CSV and tried to import that file. Outlook correctly mapped the fields, and
appeared to accept the import, but the data never appeared in the calendar.
Other than the test items, there are only two entries in the entire Calendar
so I know they didn't wind up in one date or a different year. I tried this
about 3 times as well. No error message in this case either.

If you are trying to import custom fields, Outlook does not support it. It
will only import the same fields as it shows in the exported .csv file you
looked to for how to map fields.

Thanks for helping with the problem Milly.

I wasn't trying to import custom fields:

As I said, I tried to transfer the first five fields rather than all 22
fields. Do I really need to include the "Sensitivity" and
"OptionalAttendees" and all those other fields to make the calendar work?

If not, do you have any other ideas?

Thanks.
