Calendar events default on recurrence

If I enter an appointment in Outlook 2007 and close it and reopen it to edit,
it ALWAYS defaults to a recurring appointment. I then have to open it, remove
reoccurance and save it again. Do I have an option to stop this somewhere? I
have gone through everything I can think of to stop this from happening.

If you're using a Dell, this is a problem that has been known by Dell for
years. Uninstall the "Outlookaddinsetup" program in Add/Remove Programs.
