calendar column date format

In outlook 2002 calendar
looking at "Day/Week/Month" "week" view
some people have a "Friday, April 02" as a column heading
others just have "April 2"

How do you change the date format from one to the other??
 
It is a Windows setting under Control Panel, Regional Settings (depends on
your version of Windows as to the exact location.)
