Calendar autopreview slow to show appointments

If I want to see which days have appointments in the coming months, it can
sometimes take quite a while for the Calendar to display them in the
autopreview pane. There really isn't that much info for Outlook to sift
through (the calendar file size is only 180KB) and it only displays two
months at a time. Calendar autoarchive cleans out items older than four
months.

Is there any way to speed it up?

If this is running on your local client and the local client I would think it
is just a defrag issue, check to see where your data files are located, try
defragging the drive, or try to cleanup the data files, go into settings for
the data file, it should show a method to do a cleanup. It is one feature the
auto archiver doesnt do properly, but doing it occasionally should actually
help speed up the process.

Hope it helps,
Jon

Thanks Jon...defragging didn't seem to help (my workstation does that fairly
regularly on its own anyway). I'm not sure what you mean by "cleaning up the
data file", but I did "compact" the .pst -- unfortunately that didn't change
its sluggish behavior. I'll be upgrading to the next/newest version of
Outlook soon, and perhaps that will kick it in the pants... -Doug
